Empire period Grand Pianoforte made by Freudenthaler Paris. There is only one other one know to exist with the proof of being a pianoforte grand made by this maker. This is dated on the soundboard 1817 with a serial number stamp of 72. The mechanics are a simple englsih type of an action. The mechanics are in original condition untouched. Pieces like this are very rare and are not easy to come by.
History
Feudenthaler - Jean Guillaume (Johann Wilhelm. After a apprenticeship in Strausbourg, possibly with with Silbermann, Freudenthaler went to Paris in 1789, where he worked in the Erard Factory. There is indications that during that year his address was the Cour Saint Martin des Champs. Fruedenthaler visited London, then returned to Paris to establish his own workshop. His later addresses were 12 rue Montmartre from 1800 to 1807, and in 1816 164 Montmartre. Eventually Freudenthaler became builder for both the Academie Royale de Musique and the Theatre Italien. His business was continued after his death by His Sons.
